OUR TRIP IS BOOKED!!
I'm so excited to say that our 1 year anniversary trip to Brazil &
Argentina is finally all booked for February. Traveling to South America was on our
101 List because there is
so much there we wanted to see- it will
definitely call for another trip to do it all. Tour group is all paid off and we purchased airline tickets yesterday. We're going to apply for our visa this Friday and I've got a few travel essentials on my Christmas lists. We're going to be gone for about 12 days, starting out in
Buenos Aires, Argentina. We will fly up to
Iguazu Falls on the Brazil-Argentina border, then to the beach city of
Paraty for a few days and end up in Rio.
Read about our trip, the
Southern Highlights, though
Gap Adventures to see all the wonderful places we are going! I've read some really good reviews about GAP and am hoping the trip will go smoothly.
BUENOS AIRESWe arrive a few days before our official tour begins, so we'll do some sightseeing on our own. We'd like to hit up Teatro Colon if the remodeling is complete and take in some tango in the streets.
We are also hoping to do a city tour with Fall in Love with Buenos Aires one day. We want to visit the Recoleta neighborhood and stop by Evita's famous grave.
Perhaps visit this authentic ranch called
Estancia Santa Susana, outside of
Buenos Aires to ride some horses and see how real
goucho's do it.
IGUAZU FALLSIguazu Falls is of course listed in
1001 Places to See (as is the
Recoleta, Tango &
Teatro Colon), but it's also one of the photos on our mantle. I realized I haven't written about our Travel Mantle...will have to do that soon!
Imagine 275 separate waterfalls, with only Victoria Falls in Zambia being bigger. It was in the Miami Vice movie recently if anybody actually watched that movie! We are going to visit the National Parks on both the Brazil and Argentina side of the falls. If conditions are favorable, we will be able to go out on some catwalks above/in the falls and take a helicopter tour from above.
SO.EXCITED!!!!!
PARATY
Paraty will be the little city where we catch our breath. Relax a bit on the beach, enjoying the beautiful ocean or hike to some waterfalls in the jungle.
RIO
Where to even start in Rio?? The tour group will provide a mini-city tour of the famous city, but we hope to hit the highlights, including the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain, the awesome state of Jesus with breathtaking views at Corcovado, and Impanema Beach.
In doing some research, I ran across some other great blogs where I have learned about other traveler's experiences in places we are going to soon be visiting. It's just amazing to have all of this at the tip of my fingers, and I can't imagine traveling before the Internet!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: We're so blessed to be able to travel.
