DAY 32 WITH THE SON

I'm taking the 40 days leading up the Christmas to focus on the life of Jesus and do a mini-reflection and devotion. I'm following along with Liza on her special blog called 40 Days with the Son, based on the Max Lucado book 3:16.

Here is how to join us in reflection of the spirit of this upcoming holiday season.

CHRIST'S CLOTHING ON THE CROSS: "They divided his clothes among the four of them. They also took his robe, but it was seamless, woven in one piece from the top. So they said "Let's not tear it but throw dice to see who gets it' ". - John 19-23-24

After reading today's devotional, I am encouraged to learn more and dig further than the words printed in scripture. How often do we fly through a Bible verse or scripture reading without fully understanding the depth and meaning of the message God intended to convey to us. It's not until we study the historical context and learn a bit about Jewish tradition that we can see the symbolism of the seamless garment. I'm sure the Bible is full of these precious details that we often skip over to get to something that's more easily understood, but we lose the richer, deeper meaning behind every single word in the Bible that has infinite relevance. It's a reminder that when we come to something that appears random or irrelevant or unimportant to the bigger story, that we should stop and especially examine what God is trying to tell us.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: After having the tree up for a week, we're going to attempt to decorate it tonight.

Yea, I just did this yesterday with a passage in Acts that I was reading. It was amazing the revelation that can come out of the smallest little detail.
