ICE SKATING

Disclaimer- these are some horrible photos! I was frantically trying to take each of the boys on a lap or two around the rink, dodge falling children and adults on the ice, wipe steams of sweat off my face, carry my other camera in my pocket while grabbing a few precious shots under the big top tent.

I think the boys had a blast ice skating, but it was pretty rough going. First off, you will notice by the fact that their jeans and shirts are soaking wet, that the ended up falling quite a bit into the pool of water that sat atop the ice skating rink that was over 80 degrees on a hot Houston December day.

Even though their grandpa was there to help H & I out with the 7 kids, they spent most of the time desperately clinging to the rail and rarely venturing onto the watery-ice to attempt to skate.

Despite the lack of actual skating, there were still quite a few smiles and the boys seemed to enjoy just playing in the water every time they fell down.
Of the adults, I was the only one that really cared about the kids- as evidenced by my willingness to fall on the ice with them, especially when carrying them around the rink so they could quasi-skate for at least a brief time. We managed to snag a walker-like device that you could use to help you skate around the rink a bit without falling.

Still doesn't ensure that you won't fall! :)
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: We made it though ice skating with only 1 minor child injury and a lot of wet clothes, and lots of smiles and grins.

Was the rink "outdoors"? Sacramento sets up an outdoor rink....but it gets cold enough here that the ice doesn't really melt that fast.
