LAMBERT HALL

I had the fabulous opportunity to meet up with some fellow Houston photographers on Friday to do a mini-field trip to Lambert Hall, which is home to Opera in the Heights. Though technically part of a local church, the Hall is available for community events and performances.
Completed in 1927, the historical building is a key part of the history of the Houston Heights area and occupies a prominent place on Heights Boulevard. Recent restoration of the stain glass provided some awesome photographic opportunities.
There were identical, huge stained glass windows on the north and south walls of the buildings, which cast a warm yellow light throughout the entire hall.
Many smaller stained glass windows were spread throughout the rest of the hall, with beautiful, intricate glass.
The inside of the Hall has recently been remodeled, but it was fascinating to see the older architecture and great history in so much of the furniture and interior details.
The upper balcony provides an excellent view and you are still incredibly close to the stage.

The lower, floor seats appear nice and comfy, and many have donor name plaques on the back to signify the generosity of numerous people who have made the restoration and preservation of the great hall possible.

One more shot of the beautiful stained glass.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I'm so glad to see important, older buildings like this one being preserved for future generations to enjoy and appreciate.
