SANTA BARBARA

The main goal of our California Coast Trip was to visit Santa Barbara and stay at a friend's AMAZING ranch. After driving up PCH, we strolled down to the Marina area of SB and had a fantastic lunch at Brophy Brothers, enjoying seafood and the awesome view of all the ships.

One morning, we headed north out of town and had a tummy-popping breakfast in the Danish town of Solvang with it's cute little shops, authentic food and windmills. The town can be seen in the movie Sideways- which ignited the raging tour industry in the greater Santa Barbara area. You can even go Sideways Tours.
After a hearty breakfast, it was on to the real deal- the WINE COUNTRY of Santa Ynez Valley. The photos below were taken at Bridlewood Winery, which is still an actual working horse ranch. We also stopped by the Gainey Vineyard, which had a nice tour of their wine making area.

We rented a convertible and I HIGHLY recommend this- it's the only way to properly tour the gorgeous country side and get enough fresh air!
One night in Santa Barbara, we went into (and over) the Santa Ynez mountains to eat at the highly recommended Cold Spring Tavern, an old stage coach stop. The place is full of unique history and the drive up San Marcos Pass alone into the is worth it. The food was awesome and the atmosphere cozy and authentic.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Despite fires, floods and earthquakes, this amazing area has survived amazingly intact.
