BIG SUR

On the last day of our trip to the California Coast, we departed the lovely Santa Barbara area and drove as far north as we could before having to turn back to LA for our flight.

After some a great sunrise in the wine country, we stopped for a fantastic breakfast in Morrow Bay- there should ALWAYS be avocados in omelets! We drove down to the coast of Morrow Bay State Park and were treated to some great wildlife and the cozy morning fog on the bay.

Once headed up the coast, we were quickly mesmerized by the amazing ocean views and powerful crashing waves of the Pacific. After seeing a lot of cars turn off the road, we followed and discovered Elephant Seal Beach- a colony of animals that were attracting quite a crowd.

After a drive that was both spectacular and terrifying at the same time, we entered the famed Big Sur Area. We were stopping every few miles to take more photos of the gorgeous coastline and fascinating rocks formations. We grabbed lunch and some drinks while taking in the spectacular view at Nepenthe.

This is another place we WILL be making a dedicated trip back to do more exploring, hiking and playing in the Big Sur are and to check out Monterrey.
