CABO DINING

I broke the Cabo Review up into three posts since we were there so many days and did so many fantastic things. The first post was about the Hilton hotel, here we'll review the restaurants and finally next post- all the fun activities!

We ate at Sunset de Mona Lisa on Valentines day because we wanted a special dinner. Unbeatable view, expensive food that was alright, cool bar upstairs, fun & funky decor.

We tried to eat at the highly recommended Edith's, but there were no reservations available for our entire trip. We thought we'd drive down there and see if we could get in anyway. Despite the restaurant appearing empty, we were turned away. After reading the menu (and seeing the prices that were astronomical, even by Cabo standards), we walked next door to the Sunset Grill. Great view, excellent service, good food, much cheaper than Ediths. ;)

We hit up Tequila Restaurant in San Jose one evening while wandering around through all the artisan shops. We enjoyed walking the much quieter streets, peeking in local stores and art galleries. Great food and a great atmosphere. The great [b]ecker even photographed a rehearsal dinner here for a DW.

Near the Marina in San Lucas is Senior Sweets- forget the meals, go straight for the dessert. I only wish we'd discovered the place earlier. The best desserts I've EVER HAD!

Our first day in San Lucas, we were hungry and thirsty, so we just plopped down at the first place that looked decent. While Margariatville is a bit cliche, the drinks were great and it was fun to watch all the boats come in and out of the marina.

Cabo Wabo is part night-club and part restaurant owned and operated by Sammy Hagar of Van Halen. We ate dinner there and sipped on the famous blue margaritas with blue Cabo Wabo tequila. Nothing special. There is a life band most nights and the club looks like it could get packed.

Squid Row was our final bar of the evening. Multi-level, with a fun waitstaff that would occasionally picket with hilarious signs, thumping music and lots of good drinks. I'm sure the dance floors got packed as the night went on and the booze flowed freely.

Giggling Marlin reminded me of a place that MANY people probably regret going. They have a hosted show/skit, in which various couples compete. It starts out sort of tame, but declines into progressively more debauchery as the night progresses. For winning or losing a round, you get a shot of tequila. In between outrageous stunts, the contestants get more tequila. It was VERY entertaining to say the least, but I was too worried we'd be picked to be the next contestants!

Dante's BBQ & Ribs- in San Jose del Cabo

GREAT local hangout! Tons of locals, basically a sports-bar, with cheap, scrumptious food! Check out the biggest bowl of guacamole I've ever been served in my life!

Mambo Cafe was one of our FAVORITE places! In San Lucas, just west of the Marina in the bottom of a hotel, this HOPPING bar was so authentic and awesome. With a live Salsa Band from the Dominican and tons of locals doing some wicked-amazing salsa. We just watched in amazement. They have locations in other tourist hot spots too.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I didn't get too fat eating at all these amazing places!
