This is probably one of the most perfect pictures of my dad. It's how I remember him (and just about how he still looks). Tanned, rugged, and cooking up a mess of yummy food for family functions.
This is us last night when we all went out to celebrate and spend a little time together visiting and catching up.

I was able to scan some old photographs and turned up some priceless photos. I was about 2 months old in this picture with my dad and his grandfather Otto, who was 80 at the time. I was lucky enough to have my great-grandfather around for the first 18 years of my life and have many happy memories of holidays spent at his house in Brenham playing with my cousins.

This fabulous photo is from Thanksgiving 1981, with 4 generations of family, including my dad, my grandfather and my great-grandfather, both aunts and my uncle.
This is me with my mom's father in, I'm guessing, about 1984. I don't have too many memories of him because he lived out of town and passed away when I was very young.
The other man, who has been like a father to me, is my step-dad John. Tasked with putting up with me on a daily basis since I was in elementary school, he is truly a saint with the biggest heart of anybody I know.
And of course, there is Uncle Don, whom I adore just like a grandfather. Growing up, I'd see them several times a year and I'm still just as close with them.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I'm thankful and blessed by all the father figures in my life, especially our Heavenly Father.
