The First Play

Zoe was not (and still is not) too fond of Mia. It's the most common question I get "What does Zoe think?" My best answer so far is "She's tolerating her." These were taken the first little-bitty play together. Mia had been home about a week and a half.

Zoe usually grabs the toy and runs, but she let Mia hang on to it and they both growled viciously and wagged tails.

It was too funny and cute! Mia is not at ALL fond of her crate & we've had some struggles with it. Zoe helped us out the first week or so by *sharing* a kennel at night so Mia would stop crying. Mia's doing great now, sleeping alone in her small crate & making it through the nights with no problem.

It didn't take long for Zoe to go to her throne with her conquest. Little did she realize it would only take Mia abut 2 weeks to learn to climb up there.

Mia is such an awesome puppy- total klutzy, goober dog that explores and responds really well to training and discipline so far.

This is one of the few pictures I have of all of us so far. That's one of my goals this weekend is to get some better photos of everybody. It's been a really long week here & I haven't had my camera out much.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Mia went 3.5 hours this morning while I was at work without any accidents in her kennel! We'll just have to work on the afternoons ;)

We're still waiting for Tucker to get past just tolerating Dennis and starting to like him ... maybe during Year 3.

Trixie and Dennis are best buddies though!

It will take Zoe awhile. When we brought Delilah into the home I think what helped was that we took turns giving each of the dogs 1:1 time. I'd take Rocket for a walk and Steve would play with Delilah in the back yard or vice versa. These little sessions of 30-40 minutes of 1:1 time really seemed to reinforce the fact that they are each special and loved. I had a really good trainer tell me to try this and it really seemed to work quickly.

Awww. Our Anna Bear was the same way with Charlie when he was a pup. We think Anna thinks she's a person so she'd get all annoyed we were sticking her with the dog. :) But she's come around. I think once she realized Charlie isn't going away. She still doesn't play too much with him...they do rough play once in a while. But now, if they are seperated they go nuts even if just for a few minutes.
