Water Buffalo

One of the more interesting animals we saw was the Cape Water Buffalo. They are listed as one of the Big 5 Game- while giraffes and hippo are no.

These photos were all taken late in the evening in very low light, thus the high noise. I thought these guys "hats" (horns) were so cute.

Our guide told us that this animal must have had a parasite in his horns that was causing them to turn orange.

We followed this guy off-road for about 20 minutes and he kept ducking behind bushes and moving away from us. Finally we caught him out in the open and I got some great shots.

Doesn't he just look grumpy?

As we returned to camp, we caught site of this guy- a Nyala.

He was there with some friends & stopped to eat a little bit.

Then he had an itch. It was amazing how similar their movements are to domesticated animals.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Going to see Phantom of the Opera tonight with friends!

Cool animal shots! Water buffalo are quite dangerous, aren't they?
