Giraffes

We didn't find an elusive giraffe until our 2nd afternoon (4th game drive). I was starting to get a bit worried- I thought these guys would have a hard time hiding, but they managed to get away from us the first few drives.

Again, the late afternoon sun made for beautiful lighting on this majestic creatures.

This guy also put on quite a show as he strutted from one tree to the next on his dinner stroll.

Giraffe really are huge when you get up next to them and they tower over you.

It was also fun just to watch the mechanics of walking with such long legs and to see how gracefully he moved.

Munch...munch...munch.
See the little bird about to land on his neck?

I loved the mini-Mohawk the giraffes sport on their long neck. Apparently so did the little birdie.

The little horns on top of his head are so cute...I wonder if they serve any purpose.

No photo set if complete until I get the parting "butt shot".

On our way back from dinner that night, we stumbled across a pair of giraffe.

Although our tracker carried a very large spotlight, it obviously wasn't enough to get any great night photos, but it was still fun to see them.

Another day, another beautiful sunset.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Hubby got more good news at work today!
