MGM Grand Detroit

We got a great rate through the convention, so we went ahead and stayed our extra days at the brand new MGM Grand Detroit, and I'm so glad we did!

This casino and hotel is just as swank as the ones I've seen in Vegas, and I just loved all the decor and architecture, including the barely visible waterfall on the front.

They have this ever changing park in the front that gets new docorations each season. Think we should tell them it's NOT spring when it's still snowing?

The hotel was visually stunning with interesting and fun things to look at (and photograph) everywhere. In the entry and bars and restaurants, no detail was over looked and no expense was spared when decorating.

The bed was made with super comfy linens, there was a huge flat screen plasma and a fully stocked mini-bar. That orange glass is a window into the shower with dual-shower heads.

The staff was fabulous, and the casino appeared to be packed on Saturday night. Everything there was pretty pricey, like you'd expect in a luxury hotel. My boss said the gym and spa area were super-swank too, but I was more interested in the bars.

So many fun colors and textures and patterns, not only in the room but all throughout the hotel. There are 3 fancy restaurants and a few more casual places, plus 3 bars. We ate twice at the high-end Steakhouse called Bourbon and it was amazing! It's not often that I pay $50 for a steak and say that it was worth it.

Oh, and also a flat screen and surround sound built into the luxury bathroom.

And of course we had a fun view of a clock. I don't think I even realized this thing was a clock until Tuesday!

We were up on the 14th floor and had a great view of downtown Detroit, including the old Tiger stadium.

The Ambassador Bridge, where we ran into trouble with the law!

And of course my favorite abandoned building in the outskirts of downtown.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: H is finally finished with a his big project at work & his clients are very happy! Hopefully more business :)

So nice to see some GREAT pics of The D. I still chuckle that you had to ride around in a green suv ..... I'm sorry but that's still just too funny.

What did you try and sneak across the border that got you in trouble?
