So our hallway has needed some help for a while. I'd had the same rugs there for several years, we'd touched up a few paint placed, had little in the way of decorations on the walls & it just looked blah.
As you can see, Zoe was following me around this day as I was getting ready to paint. In addition to guests coming over for mother's day & father's day, I think we might have some out-of-town guests later this year.
One of our older rugs had been damaged, so when I saw these new fun & colorful ones, I decided I had the necessary motivation to spruce up the hall.
I wanted to go with a neutral paint and stay light in the hallway. I picked up all these colors and decided to go with the one on top- Oak Straw.
It took me just a little over an hour to tape up the edges- I hate doing the ceilings though!
The original color of the wall was a fairly grayish white & always looked a bit dirty (dusty) to me. You can see the new color has a much richer, warmer feel to it.
And, the final result (sorry for the awful photo- I was standing front of the window & blocking most of the light)! It's very subtle, but I think it looks great with the white baseboards & door trim. H needs to touch those up again & install the new thermostat I bought to replace our broken one. I've started working on a wall collage of "US" photos from each of the cities and countries I've visited, and I need find a few other wall decorations.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: My best friend is moving to Philly to take a teaching job- I'm so excited and happy for her!

It looks great! Paint does wonders, doesn't it?
It does look good -- and I love the look you're getting from Zoe in the first one. That's a total Tucker expression.
