We're Going to Africa!

We've officially booked our trip to South Africa for next May & June. It's taken me months of planning & negotiating & researching, but I'm very happy with our final itinerary from Ker & Downey. We're starting out with 4 nights in what's been called the most beautiful city in Africa- Cape Town. We've got a half-day city orientation tour & a full day tour to all the big sights.

One of those days in Cape Town includes a day trip to the wine lands, which are also supposed to be spectacular & (of course) full of wine stops!

We then head over to Mpumalanga to the San Sabi Game Reserve, which is just across the river from Krueger national park, and staying at the Lion Sands River Lodge. We will have 2 full days of animal safaris- with morning & evening excursion to track Africa's Big 5.

Next, we fly to Johannesburg & spend 2 nights there. We will visit the Apartheid Museum and learn more about South Africa's journey from colonial country to modern nation and the conflicts between blacks & whites.

Then we are off to the beautiful Indian Ocean island of Mauritius for 4 nights of tropical paradise. Hopefully we can do some fun diving, soak up some sun and relax!
BONUS: We are spending an extra day in Dubai on the way to South Africa.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: It's the last Friday of work this year!

Cool! You should grab "Last Chance to See" by Douglas Adams and read the section on Mauritius, if you haven't already!
