Despite the regular tickets being gone in a few hours, H & I decided to take our stand-by tickets and head downtown after work to see if we could get into the Obama Houston Rally. Apparently lines started outside the Toyota Center early in the afternoon, and there was madness when we hit the back of the lines around 5:15 yesterday.
Thankfully it was a nice day and we were treated to a gorgeous sunset as we patiently waited outside for more than 2 hours to get.
After several announcements, a quick break to inhale some dinner, and a few warm-up chants, the man of the hour appeared. He gave a great victory speech after his primary win in Wisconsin and for 45 minutes the crowd was cheering loudly as he went into great detail about his vision for a new direction for our country.
The floor and upper decks were packed with people, although a few empty seats could be seen scattered through the crowd. I was so happy to see young and old, black and white, tons of Obama gear and lots of enthusiasm.
It was neat to see the behind the scenes stuff, including the huge press corp and all the secret service throughout the crowd.
I was so freaking excited to be there! The crowd went nuts when the wildly popular Dip Dive "Yes We Can" video came on just before Obama took the stage.
H's best friend Mark also joined us after work & we had terrific seats on the top tier of the Red & White bistro.
Check us out- watching history be made!
Just a snapshot of the hometown paper giving some good press to Obama!
