Afternoon Stroll in Buenos Aires

We decided to head out for a late afternoon walk around the city. We walked down Florida Avenue towards Plaza de Mayo again.

I love the church below that I had missed the first time.

We then walked towards the legislature and at the far end of the plaza was a homeless encampment. H wasn't too thrilled with me taking picture of the bum-city and their attempts at starting a fire.

These buildings perfectly illustrate everything in Buenos Aires. The buildings (and graves) are stacked in together, tight as can be, to make the most of every block. It was just interesting to see so much diversity of materials and architecture and style in such a small area, when we are used large homogeneous blocks of buildings in the US.

The legislative building itself was quite impressive, with a beautiful fountain in front, which was unfortunately fenced off and empty.

My fountain photo taken through the fence.

This is my favorite bus stop because we took refuge there for about 10 minutes while an afternoon shower came through.

When the rain stopped falling, H jumped out for a picture and then we quickly hopped a cab back to the hotel before it started raining again.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: It's Friday night!
