Buenos Aires, or BA as the locals call it, is a magical city that looks much more like Europe than South America. We landed around lunch time, and after checking into our hotel, we headed out for the famous Argentinian meals that we'd heard about.
We wandered around, hopelessly hungry, until we stumbled upon Las Nazarenas Parrilla. As luck would have it, our first meal kicked off in great Argentine style with large slabs of grilled meat and a great bottle of Malbec wine.
After a scrumptious meal, we headed back to our hotel, the Waldorf Hotel, for a quick nap to recharge our batteries. The hotel itself is located in a great location, just a few blocks from Florida Avenue- the main pedestrian street. There are lots of great restaurants nearby and you can easily walk to almost all of the local attractions.
Despite an impressive entrance, the rooms left quite a bit to be desired. I knew we would be staying in modest rooms, but this one was especially modest. There was about 2' on each side of the bed and a small closet where we stored our bags so we wouldn't trip over them. We had a few English channels, a decent A/C, telephone in the room and an alarm clock.
The front desk staff was fairly helpful and would assist with grabbing a taxi, which was always easy. The rooms were tiny, but generally clean. Not quite up to American standards, but similar to other budget hotels in Europe. Twice though the windows were left open, which is fairly typical during the day. However, when we went to close and lock them at night, they were in backwards and we had to call housekeeping to fix them before we could lock it.
(I realize most of this information wouldn't be of any concern for most of my regular blog readers, but I thought I'd include a mini-hotel review in case other are searching for info about any of the hotels we stayed.)
After a fully tummy of meat, a bottle of wine and a little nap, we were ready to hit the town that night...
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: First day of early primary voting in Texas! WOOHOO!
