Tropical Storm Edouard

I slept in until 5AM this morning, but awoke to Tropical Storm Edouard churning slowly towards Houston. I figured I still had time to get a very brief run in, and enjoy a dramatic sunrise full of rolling clouds and bright pink rays of the sun.

And of course it hits my side of town just as I'm ready to walk out the door.

By 8:30, the rain had picked up significantly, but still hardly anything compared to the usual rough & tumble thunderstorms we get through here. Most companies in town were closed and many people were off of work. Watching the stores run out of food and the gas pumps emptied was mind-blowing to me. Over-react just a tad?

Still just a drenching, soaking rain with very little wind by 1:30 local time this afternoon. The ground could really use good old-fashioned soaking, instead of the usual flooding. I think the biggest problem was probably with the airports being closed and flights being delayed.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: The rain has stopped, and my first confined water dive tonight is indoors and should be just fine.

We so needed the rain! I'm just glad it didn't turn into a Hurricane and do too much damage.
