Ike Cleanup

I just wanted to share a few more photos that I thought really captured what's going on around Houston. The massive amounts of trash & debris are over-whelming in some areas. Between homes that lost all their contents because of water damage to the hundreds of thousands of trees down around the town.

I have heard mixed reports about one of my favorite state parks, Brazos Bend. I'm certain with all the large trees & low-lying water, they probably had lots of problems.

The covered area of the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion, where we've been to several concerts, is also badly damaged.
This is debris and garbage floating in Galveston Bay.

The relief workers & volunteers have been awesome, as they have organized in a massive way to help out their neighbors.

Typical island hippie who refused to leave. Lots of his kind on the island & coast.

One of the major intersections near the coast. Just attempting to pile the garbage in the middle to get around the streets for the time being.

Several area restaurants have really stepped up to keep our Police/Fire/EMS and volunteers well fed while they are working.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Back to the gym this afternoon!

Wow, what a mess! I'm referring of course to the island hippie, but it looks like Ike left quite a bit of wreckage behind as well ...
