Yes, I know Thanksgiving is still technically 5 months away, but I wanted to reminisce about my favorite holiday. Always a long weekend, no expensive gifts to by, no horrible office parties, no excessive decorations, not ruined by commercialism, and it's all about food & family. What's not to LOVE about Thanksgiving? In 2007, we were in Alabama for the holiday & last year we hosted our own feast with the moms at our house.

I used to spend most holidays with my dad & his side of the family, since I had several cousins and out-of-town relatives. We'd meet the Austin & Brenham family at my great-grandpa's house in Brenham. This is 1981 and I was about 18 months old, with my older cousin, my grandparents, my dad & his siblings.

Fast forward to 1995, and we were still meeting in Brenham, even though Great Grandpa was living in a nursing home. Now, I've got a baby brother & a few month old sister, plus and ACL replacement.

By 1999, we were moving Thanksgiving around, but this particular year my cousins came down from Austin to Brenham, so we had it at my aunt's house.

Now, we typically have it at Dad's house since it's difficult for grandma & grandpa to even ride i the car to Brenham. In 2005, all the cousins plus one that married in & 2 that were married in by their father.
Not sure what we're going to do yet this year- if we'll have the mom's over to our house or maybe host dad's side of the family for the festivities. I have many fond memories of Thanksgiving and look forward to many more!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: We'll be SCUBA diving in Mauritius today (we might already be done with the time change).
