Flashback to Lake Tahoe

I'm bringing back Travel Tuesdays to reminisce about some of my favorite trips. I recently realized I never blogged about the first trip H and I ever took together. We'd only been dating about 5 months, but I'd already made plans to spend a long weekend in Lake Tahoe. I'd always wanted to go visit the beautiful mountains and water, but never had anybody adventurous enough to go with. Exactly 4 years ago this week, we flew to Reno and drove into the mountains.
.

It really was quite the adventure for us. I always tell people that you should travel with the person you are dating before you decide to get married. It's a good sign when couples can travel happily together. It was also H's first time seeing mountains. I grew up going to Colorado and LOVE the mountains. I had to take over driving shortly after we start ascending out of the Nevada desert.

July is a perfect time to visit Lake Tahoe, and our first stop was the top of the mountain. We took the gondola up to take in the magnificent view and appreciate the majesty of the lake.

Our first evening, we took a sunset sail out on the lake through Tahoe Sail. We sipped on wine and had a few snacks while cruising around the lake and enjoying a beautiful sunset-like this...

Lake Tahoe was the perfect mix of outdoors activities during the day and nice romantic evenings.

One afternoon, we decided to take a 3 hour horseback ride up the mountain. It was fun, and great to enjoy the scenery without having to do the hiking myself. I think my booty would have been happier with a 1 hour ride though.

Almost every night, we were treated to an amazing sunset. We stayed at the Embassy Suites, which has the state line running literally through its parking lot. You can walk down to the beach, walk to several casinos and walk to numerous food places and the gondola. It was a great hotel- any place with a free fancy breakfast and free happy hour is doing alright.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: My new tripod and my new office furniture arrive today.

What a fabulous trip! DH and I would have to remove the gondola and horses on that trip. :-)
